CASE Advisory on Timeshare Operators offering cash recovery schemes
CASE has received feedback that one or more
timeshare-related companies are offering members of the public
cash recovery schemes. Usually the schemes promise a high amount
of rebate to be given out at a certain maturity date.
Such promised rebate could exceed the total signing-up fees. One
company has the audacity to claim to be working with CASE in a
cash recovery scheme.
We would like to reiterate that we have not and will not work
with timeshare or timeshare-related companies.
Consumers should take time to verify companies' claims of any
cash recovery schemes. There is a risk that consumers may lose
even the signing-up fee as the maturity date for the promised
rebate would usually set at many years into the future. There is
no guarantee that the companies promising the rebates will still
be in existence then.
An instance of a company which promises consumers an attractive
cashback scheme is Maxmega Pte Ltd. As the said company is no
longer in operations at a physical location (as reported in the
media), the involved consumers are having great difficulties
contacting the company representatives let alone getting their
rebates.
Should consumers require our assistance with their timeshare membership(s), they can speak to one of our Consumer Relations Officers directly. Consumers should also contact us directly if they are approached by any company aiming to be appointed by CASE to deal with timeshare-related matters. They can do so by either calling our hotline at 6463 1811 between 9 am and 5 pm from Mondays to Fridays and between 9 am and 12 pm on Saturdays or visiting us at our Ghim Moh office between 9 am and 4 pm from Mondays to Saturdays.
