CASE takes court action against company and obtains interim injunction (Published in C@sebites Issue 109, 14 September 2007)

CASE has commenced an action in the High Court for a declaration and/or injunction against Global Europ (Asia) Pte Limited for breaching the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA), namely by exerting undue pressure on consumers.

CASE had attempted to stop Global Europ’s unfair practices by inviting it to sign a Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA).  However, Global Europ declined to sign the VCA.

A judge of the High Court granted CASE’s application for an interim injunction against Global Europ (Asia) Pte Limited restraining them from unfair practices against consumers.

The injunction is an interim or holding injunction until the trial of the action or further order and does not decide the merits of the case.
