  • CHANG CHENG ADDS COOKED FOOD AND BEVERAGE OFFERINGS ONTO PRICE KAKI

    The Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") and Chang Cheng Mee Wah Pte Ltd ("Chang Cheng") announced today that cooked food and beverage offerings from Chang Cheng's coffee shops and food courts will be listed on mobile application Price Kaki. Starting 22 August 2022, consumers will be able to compare prices of more than 900 items sold in 23 of Chang Chang's coffee shops and food courts across Singapore.

  • CASE sees highest number of complaints against renovation contractors in first half of 2022

    The Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") received the highest number of complaints against the renovation contractors industry in the first half of 2022 ("1H2022"). Consumers lodged 807 complaints against home renovation contractors in 1H2022, an increase of 28% over the 627 complaints lodged in the first half of 2021 ("1H2021").

  • CASE calls for consumers to collect unclaimed prepayment protection insurance payouts

    More than $169,000 in prepayment protection insurance payouts under the CaseTrust accreditation scheme for spa and wellness businesses are unclaimed as affected consumers could not be contacted despite efforts to reach them.

  • CASE extends consumer dispute resolution services to over one million NTUC members

    The National Trades Union Congress ("NTUC") and the Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") have signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") to enable over one million NTUC members to utilise CASE's dispute resolution services free of charge. Ms Lee Siow Hwee, Executive Director of CASE, and Mr Steve Tan, Director of Membership Services Division at NTUC, represented CASE and NTUC respectively at the MOU signing. The signing was witnessed by Mr Melvin Yong, CASE President and NTUC Assistant Secretary-General.

  • Sheng Siong adds all house brand products on Price Kaki

    The Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") and Sheng Siong Supermarket Pte Ltd ("Sheng Siong") announced today that all Sheng Siong house brand grocery products will be listed on mobile application Price Kaki. Sheng Siong is the first supermarket to make available all its house brand grocery products on Price Kaki amidst recent consumer concerns over inflationary pressures and cost of living issues.

    The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore ("CCCS") has published a Guide on Fair Trading Practices for the Renovation Industry ("Guide"), which aims to improve business practices in the industry and help the suppliers of interior design or renovation services ("Contractors") steer clear of unfair practices.

  • CASE and NYP to develop new CaseTrust Accreditation Scheme For E-Businesses

    The Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") and Nanyang Polytechnic's Singapore Institute of Retail Studies("NYP-SIRS")signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") today to develop a new CaseTrust accreditation scheme for e-businesses. When the new scheme is launched in the second half of 2022, consumers will be able to more easily identify reliable online merchants. The accreditation will also serve as an industry benchmark for e-businesses in Singapore which are committed to fair and transparent business practices. E-businesses which are CaseTrust accredited will be able to provide greater assurance to consumers, and stand out from their peers in the crowded e-commerce space.

  • RedMart joins Price Kaki in collaboration to extend price comparison to goods sold online

    The Consumers Association of Singapore (“CASE”) announced today a collaboration with RedMart by Lazada (“RedMart”) that will help consumers compare prices of daily essentials sold online. Under the collaboration, RedMart will contribute a pilot list of 100 frequently purchased daily essentials and groceries for comparison on the mobile application Price Kaki. RedMart is the first online grocery store to be featured on Price Kaki. The collaboration brings the number of products available for comparison on Price Kaki to more than 5,500.

  • CASE warns consumers of complaints received against Sense Construction Werkz, Sense Visual and K & L Interior

    The Consumers Association of Singapore (“CASE”) would like to alert consumers to complaints received against renovation contractors, Sense Construction Werkz Pte Ltd (“Sense Construction Werkz”), Sense Visual Pte Ltd (“Sense Visual”), and K & L Interior Pte Ltd (“K & L Interior”). The majority of complaints pertains to the renovation contractors failing to complete home renovation projects according to committed timelines despite consumers having paid substantial payments upfront.

    The Consumers Association of Singapore ("CASE") would like to alert consumers to a spike in complaints received against Triple Lifestyle Marketing Pte Ltd ("Triple Lifestyle Marketing"), a direct seller of alkaline water systems. This is the second time that CASE is issuing an alert against Triple Lifestyle Marketing, following an earlier alert on 23 February 2021.
